Lonely shoes is a coffee table website celebrating those curious little moments when we stumble across a misplaced shoe and wonder how it got there. What began as an idea by Sarah Langley has grown into the world’s No.1 home of the Lonely shoe. Built by Gordon Langley and Sean Alexander, the project continues to grow – thanks to the many contributors who share their finds.
Photo copyright & usage
By uploading a photograph to lonelyshoes.co.uk, you are confirming that you took the picture yourself and that you are the legal owner of the image. Please only submit photos of shoes you’ve stumbled upon – lonely shoes is about chance encounters, not carefully arranged displays or personal shoe collections. As the photographer, you always retain the copyright to your images. By sharing your image, you’re giving Gordon Langley permission to use it within the lonely shoes project. The project will most probably remain as an online collection, however it could one day grow into something bigger – perhaps as an art exhibition or a coffee table book. Whatever happens, your photographs will only ever be used within the context of this project, always with gratitude and respect for your contribution. If your photograph(s) were to get selected to be used in a wider context outside of this website, you will be contacted via email.

We respect your privacy and handle your personal data in accordance with UK GDPR regulations. Any information you provide, such as your name or contact details, will only be used for purposes directly related to the Lonely shoes project. We do not share or sell your data to third parties. If you would like your information removed, please contact us, and we will delete it in accordance with legal requirements.
