195km on a moped and four octopuses later on the last day of our visit to Patmos, I spot a flip-flop. Whilst photographing it, I accidentally stand in a biscuit tin full of oil which splashes all over my shoe. Initially thinking it was olive oil – after all we were outside of a restaurant – I splash a bit on the other shoe so that it matches, probably good for the leather I decide.
I soon realise to my horror and to Sid’s amusement it was actually diesel that I’d poured all over my feet. It stinks. It stinks bad and we end up having to smell it all the way back to the UK, which via Athens, took us two very long and hot days to get home.
The rancid diesel also melted the glue that Wayne so kindly lent me the day before to fix my sole.
